Microabrasion For Removing Spots and Other Teeth Stains
Microabrasion is a quick and painless solution for removing white, yellow and brown spots, stains, and discolorations on your teeth. This dental stain removal procedure uses hydrochloric acid and pumice to take off very thin layers of tooth enamel to remove teeth stains. It is a safe procedure that won’t harm your teeth because it removes only micro layers. If you have this tooth stain removal procedure done in our DFW dental office by our highly-skilled cosmetic dentist Dr. Debra Seznik, you can rest assured that she will preserve as much of your tooth enamel as possible, while going only as deep as necessary to get the best possible results. Depending on how deep the stain or spot goes, removing the tooth stain may take one to two treatments.
Although some difference is immediately noticeable, full results following a dental microabrasion treatment for stained teeth don’t become visible until one to two days afterwards, as the hydrochloric acid continues to whiten the stains for a few days following treatment.
MI Paste For Removing Stubborn White Spots on Teeth and Uneven Decalcifications
White spots and uneven areas on teeth can be caused by a number of things: wearing braces, plaque build-up, trauma to the teeth, illness, developmental abnormalities, and sometimes they have no apparent cause. Our DFW dental office offers an effective solution for treating white spots that produces excellent results in just three minutes a day. This process can be achieved at home or in the office, depending on the diagnosis and recommendation from Dr Seznik. Unlike teeth whiteners that use peroxide, acid and bleach to remove stains, this solution for white spots on your teeth uses a thick phosphate and calcium-based paste that actually re-mineralizes and restores tooth enamel, which evens out your white spots. The product we use for this treatment is called MI Paste, and it has been proven to be very effective on many cases of decalcification and white spots on teeth. It also has the added benefit of strengthening your teeth and reducing sensitivity.
MI re-mineralizing paste for white spots on teeth comes in five different flavors, to please any palate. Because the calcium contains milk proteins MI treatment for removing tooth spots is not appropriate for patients with milk allergies or those with sensitivity to benzoate preservatives.
MI Paste works by binding calcium and phosphate to tooth surfaces, restoring the imbalance that causes tooth demineralization. MI Paste can also be beneficial for easing tooth sensitivity after whitening procedures and restoring enamel gloss. It is also a recommended orthodontic treatment during and after bands or brackets has been removed, to prevent and reverse white spot lesions from braces.
Treatment of MI Paste takes about three minutes a day to apply. Depending on your situation, Dr. Seznik may recommend applying this product once nightly or a couple of times a day.
